tour de germany - Heidelberg
ok, let me give you an overview of heidelburg:
"poets expressed their fondness for the city in poetry and prose, while painters took to pastel tones or powerful colors, and musicians composed odes... the german romanticism movement of the 19th century then transfigured heidelberg into legend, christening it the 'city of romanticism'..."
Heidelberg Castle...
built on the site of a medieval castle high above heidelberg, the castle was home to the Palatinate Prince Electors of the Wittelsbach family for 5 centuries and came close to destruction several times during this period... the ruins became a symbol of the entire era of German Romanticism.
The Madonna at Kornmarkt...
the Baroque Madonna was created by Peter van den Branden in the year 1718
ok, enough of all the descriptions... there is no words to describe what went through my mind when i was trying to capture the beauty of the city on camera... see and judge for yourself...(on a more personal note, i re-traced the entire route taken by the class of the stuttgart summer university 2005... cos we didnt have the time the last time, and it is true that the city looks different at different time of the year and under various weather conditions...simply lovely...)
this is found at heidelberg hbf...

along the streets of old town...

heidelburg castle!!

and the various views from the castle... and the "guard-dog"...

a structure along the river...
heidelberg has one of the best unis in germany... and see how many bicycles there are outside the hbf...
and i told you i "re-traced" the path i took in 2005, even down to the food i ate... thai food... i spent 1 hour trying to locate the restaurant...

and i bought a new bag along the way...

what happened to the well-known german efficiency?! train delays seem to be more often these days...

a structure in front of the Print Media Academy...
