if staring at the computer screen for hours can make one blind, i would have been blinded several times over...

if working on the computer can make one crazy, i would have jumped off the building several times over the last one week...

if sleeping more can make one more energetic, i would have tried it... nah, that's a myth, it does not work for me!

vacation: destination dublin

here i go again, despite me promising myself that i will NEVER spend another night on the airport floor (at least not without my sleeping bag and inflatable mattress), i've made a combination of bookings that will result in me spending the night of 17th march on the cold hard floor of london stansted airport....=3

and to make things worse, i will be without my 2 treasures (i.e. sleeping bag and mattress) as i didnt want to pay for check-in luggage (yes, for ryanair flights, one has to pay for the number of pieces of luggage one checks in; and even doing check-in at the airport will require 3 pounds per way)...

to cushion the blow of having to suffer one miserable night, how does 5 nights in dublin sound? =D
better still, how does 5 nights in dublin, with ireland's largest festival (st patrick's festival) sandwiched in between, sound? =D

work/project/lab

the last one week can be simply summarized into the following categories: (i)report writing, (ii)experiments in the lab, (iii)the multiple trips to the supermarket, (iv)desperate fridge hunt and finally (v)installing the lights in my new apartment...

and i am so freaking bored!!!!!!! work work work work work work and more work!!! not to say that i should not work, but too much of it is never good... not to mention, chami is not around and i am all alone in the apartment... (and the heater in the kitchen is not working)

but at least i do see some progress coming along in my project as well as the internship issue, so it had been a fruitful week i would say...

and nowadays, working in the project room, and one will occasionally hear comments about PHD offers, and job openings... seems like everyone is trying to plan out their future paths after the end of the current project (which in turn signals the end of our 2-year master course)... as for me, hmmm.... i have no idea as to what to do... definitely too old for more studying, so i supposed it's time that i start work and to start saving up for my material-pursuits... see this? my dream car... BMW M3 Coupe...

these things aside, i am pondering over making some plans for a little bit of weekend travelling in march... dublin anyone? and yes, almost forgot about these pics, took them when i was flying from istanbul to copenhagen... lovely, aren't they?

omg!!! i saw a brilliant streak of green light across the night sky earlier!!! and it left a burning debris trail behind it!!!! hmmm, is it a meteor?!

aalborg at -1 oC

bbbrrbbb... walking to school at -1 oC is no joke... even though i am armed with my thickest pair of gloves and a heavy jacket, it's quite a challenge... maybe its just me being unusually vulnerable to the cold...=(

on the other hand, i've not seen snow in denmark as yet (the first time it happened, i was in poland... the 2nd time it snowed in denmark, i was in singapore), but fret not, it has been forecast to snow within the next 3 days... omans, i can't wait for it to happen... however, before that, i am going to go shopping for more food, just in case it will be a repeat of the snow storm in december... ha~~~ oh, that reminds me, i still need to get a fridge for the apartment!!!!!!

unlucky...

hmmm, seems like it's true when people say that misfortunes come in pairs...

1. the danish guy, whom i was supposed to buy my fridge from, had decided to sell it off to another person... and he didnt even have the courtesy to inform me... where on earth can i get one 2nd hand fridge?!

2. lost one half of my pair of gloves earlier... man, that pair of gloves cost me 199 DKK (close to S$60)!! what am i supposed to do with the other half?! so, should i get another pair to replace, or should i just endure the cold since winter is supposed to be over in another 6 weeks or so...?

sun-less aalborg

omannnnnnnnn.... 3 days and counting, since the last time i saw the sun in aalborg.... i mean it, not a single ray of sunshine for 3 days!!

back in denmark

finally, after a fun-filled as well as food-gorging 8 wonderful weeks in singapore, i had arrived back in denmark... the place where i will call home for the coming 7 months or so...

sometimes, it takes one to leave singapore for an extended period of time before one can truly appreciate what he is missing or rather, taking for granted... just take a copy of english newspaper for example, i feel at ease when i am reading it in singapore.... of course, not to mention all the food/ people/ everyday things that i get to do when i was back in singapore... omans, i am sounding a tad homesick, don't i?

besides, the weather in denmark is certainly not helping at the moment... was in the plane from copenhagen to aalborg yesterday, and while it was approaching to land, i was just wondering why on earth was the cloud layer so thick, and suddenly i saw the runway... ha~~ it was a scary moment ... imagine yourself seeing the runway just when it was seconds from landing... as it turned out, aalborg was experiencing heavy fog... up to now, it's still gloomy weather-wise in aalborg... =(

on a happier note, i moved into an absolutely fantastic apartment... somewhere which i had been dreaming of ever since i stepped foot into denmark... if i were to rate and compare the previous and current apartment, it will be as follows...

ok, maybe its too early to judge as yet... we shall see how things turn out everntually... but i trust my instincts this time round, everything about the apartment seems so perfect at the moment..=)

as for work, it's time to work doubly hard to make up for the last 8 weeks... not to say that i had not been working at all, but it's always more efficient if i am there myself to oversee things... so it's going to be a tough few months... but a tough few months is always better than just bumping around...=p

will post up pics of the boys' trip in singapore when i lay my hands on them... for now, everyone in singapore, take care and i seriously miss everyone!!
