Tour de Denmark - Skagen
ok, it has been a long time since i did some traveling... and finally, after 5 weeks in denmark, i made my first foray into the exploration of denmark, starting from SKAGEN...
SKAGEN is a projection of land and a town in Region Nordjylland on the northernmost tip of Vendsyssel-Thy, a part of the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark. See pic for the location.

In the train to Skagen, and with Clare looking intensely at the packaging instructions...

Armed with our rented bicycles, we started from the main town of Skagen and made our way to Grenen... along the way...

The headland at Grenen, the northernmost point of Denmark, is a spectacular setting where the two parts of the North Sea, the Kattegat and the Skagerrak meet. it was nice observing waves in 2 different directions colliding with one another...

After lunch, we made our way to St. Lawrence's Church (Sct. Laurentii Kirke). The church was built around 1400 in the Gothic style. And because of the drifting sand, the church had to be abandoned in 1795. The nave was demolished, however the tower was retained as a landmark. well, this church was located at such an isolated place, that we had to endure the countless uphills and downhills... this is not healthy for my ass... =(

arghhh!!! i don't wanna cycle anymore!!!!!

on the tree outside the church...

made our way to the old town next... the sand dunes are amazingly high... and the view can simply be described as fantastic!!

the sun sets at 6 plus nowadays... me looking into the sunset... 2 of my favourite pics...

oh, the harbor is nice too!!
